Pontoons and tritoons

Pontoons are the workhorse of Charleston party boating. They have flat, open decks, lots of seating, a shade canopy and easy boarding, which makes them good for bachelorette parties, birthdays and families. Smaller pontoons usually carry up to six passengers with a licensed captain. Larger, Coast Guard inspected pontoons carry more.

Party barges and double-deckers

Built for groups, these boats trade speed for space. Expect room to dance, a sound system and often a restroom. Some have a second level or a slide. They're a natural fit for groups of 15 and up.

Catamarans
